Does CentrafuseConnect allow searching for full addresses?
Question asked by Scooter - December 21, 2015 at 12:02 PM
Unanswered
I'm noticing that when I plug in a full address into MapFactor or Centrafuse Connect, the destination doesn't show up. But if I search for the street, it gets kinda close. POIs show up with their full address, but only if searach for as a POI. What gives?

For starters you're mixing products from different vendors. MapFactor Navigator is not a Centrafuse product.

I (with Louk's help) wrote a wrapper to embed MapFactor Navigator into CF. MapFactor Navigator can use TomTom maps or OSM. Street numbers are sometimes a hit, but usually a miss, with OSM maps. However, you can improve this yourself by updating OSM with street numbers. Issues with MapFactor Navigator needs to be addressed by Mapfactor. Issues with plugin can be directed to me using the appropriate thread in forums.centrafuse.com.

POI's are usually defined using GPS coordinates so no street number/name required.

Centrafuse Connect is (was?) a great concept but was never really fully developed by CF (IMHO) and lacks a few bits to make it work in real life. Last time I checked it would not even download and cache locally any destinations defined. Not so great if you start the car in an area without internet connectivity. Hopefully this has changed... I had hoped to write a small conversion utility to sync favorites in Navigator with CF Connect and vice versa enabling.

Yes, John is right: Navigating door to door is a function of the navigation app used, Centrafuse connect is just passing the destination address to the navigation app.

This works fine with Sygic Fleet and I'm sure we (John and I) can make this work for Navigator as well (as long as Navigator free or paid supports this (setting destinations from  the API).

Right now I'm on vacation, but we can take this up when I get back.
Have fun,
Louk.

@Louk, enjoy your vacation as the integration with CF connect (or any plugin that sends destinations) was done years ago  :)

@Scooter, btw, its not literally TomTom maps, its the same dataset as TomTom uses, but needs to be purchased from MapFactor
