Gps program options
Question asked by TONY - January 7, 2016 at 5:29 PM
I am putting together a system with a Windows 10 Pc , Centrafuse, and a usb gps unit. What programs are available to provide navigation with voice turn directions?  Can the maps program provided with Windows 10 be used with Centrafuse?

CF would require a plugin to be created to do that (at least for seamless integration). I wrote the plugin to use Mapfactor Navigator (with free or paid maps) with CF. Other plugins exist like Garmin and Sygic. YMMV...
I'll be updating from W7 to W10 when I find some spare time, and was planning on exploring the W10 MAP API's to see if I could use W10's native maps with traffic overlays etc.
This could be the solution I've been looking for to resolve the frustration I have with Navigator and the lack of rich APIs to do what I want to do with it, like adding real-time traffic overlay as well as inserting road works and other obstacles into the routing engine from various sources like TFL/HA (UK) or RTA (AU) etc.
If really lucky Google will one day come up with an addon which allows their maps to be used instead... I can dream...

Well, as of this weekend, I have Win 10 Maps recognizing my USB GPS puck, via GPSDirect driver for $10, so at least that is possible.
